Idalex’s research and development team has a wealth of
experience in the fields of heat exchange, refrigeration, evaporative
cooling, cooling towers, power generation development, marketing,
manufacturing and
business administration. Idalex’s chief scientist, Dr. Valeriy Maisotsenko, a foremost scientist in thermodynamics, is the former director of the Thermal Physics Research Laboratory in Odessa, Ukraine. While in this capacity, Valeriy was recognized by the Communist government of the former Soviet Union as one of 11 top inventors in the USSR. This was the first time the Soviet Government ever publicly recognized any of its scientists. In 1992, Valeriy immigrated to the US and in 1999 became a U.S. citizen. Valeriy has spent his professional career challenging the conventional understanding of the laws of thermodynamics. His efforts have rewarded him with more than 125 heat-transfer and thermodynamics patents. Dr. Maisotsenko earned a doctor of science degree in technology (equivalent to a U.S. post-doctorate degree) from the Moscow Civil Engineering Institute in 1988. He obtained a candidate of science degree in technology (equivalent to a Ph.D.) from the Odessa Institute of Refrigeration Engineering in 1970; and a Graduate Engineering Degree (equivalent to a masters degree) from the Odessa Institute of Refrigeration Engineering, earned in 1963. Leland Gillan, P.E. is a former senior engineer for Fluor Engineers and Constructors. For nearly 10 years, Lee traveled the world designing and installing heat transfer equipment ranging from cooling towers to air coolers, shell and tube, double pipe and plate heat exchangers. Lee left Fluor to join his brothers in their consulting engineering firm. Lee has analyzed hundreds of heating, ventilating and air-conditioning systems from single-family to large multi-family and industrial systems. Lee holds a Mechanical Engineering Degree from Colorado State University. Alan Gillan, P.E. co-founded Gillan’s Engineering in 1978 while attending the University of Colorado. This two-man surveying partnership grew to a 60-person regional architectural, civil, structural, mechanical engineering and surveying firm. Although Alan’s degree is in Civil Structural Engineering, the past 22 years have been spent learning business though experience and numerous courses and studies. In addition to Gillan’s Engineering, Alan has been the principal in charge of starting and running several other businesses from leasing companies to real estate development companies. Tim Heaton is the former vice president of a 70-person manufacturing company. Tim managed the quality assurance program that operated with the highest QA designation (NQA-1, Nuclear Quality) allowing the company to manufacture and supply critical nuclear components for the Department of Energy. Tim began his career working for the US Congress in Washington D.C. where he developed a strong governmental and regulatory relations experience. In addition to day-to-day-management activities, Tim also manages our quality assurance program Rick Gillan is the former Design Director for a major audiovisual design-build company in southern California. Rick was responsible for design, manufacturing and installation of audiovisual systems and components. His work includes a secured, war simulation facility, many executive screening rooms and custom, large-format video-viewgraph machines. As a co-owner of Gillan's Engineering for 20 years, Rick worked with his brothers to build a firm recognized as the regional leader in failure analysis and repair design. After selling their consulting firm in the winter of 2002, Rick joined Idalex to assist with sales, marketing, and product development. Rick obtained his Architectural Engineering Degree from the University of Colorado. |
